    Bajrangarh Fort

    Bajrangarh Fort is also famous as Jharkon. This fort is located on the road of Guna Aron. It stands at about 8 km to the south-western direction of Guna. This fort was erected in the year 1775 by the emperors of Maratha. Moreover, the compound of this fort includes Gunnery, Rangmahal and Motimahal. Although the fort has been completely destroyed, it still looks stunning and continues to amaze its visitors.

    Bajrangarh Fort stands at an altitude of around 92.3 metres. Inside the fort, there used to be a large stepwell in the vicinity of the gunnery. The well was used to store water mainly for the horses. There is also an old temple inside the fort which is visited by the local residents on a regular basis.

    Bishbhuji Temple

    Bishbhuji Temple is one of the renowned attractions of Guna. The temple enshrines the idol of Goddess Durga with her 20 hands. The temple is situated at the top of a petite hill and holds a large lamp pillar, which is known as Deepstambh. This lamp pillar is best viewed from a far-off place and gives an alluring look to the temple from a distance.

    The traditional rites and annual fairs of the Bishbhuji Temple are held during the event of Durgashtami that usually falls in the months of March or April and September or October. The annual fair which is arranged in the temple premises continues for nine days.

    Moreover, special puja and abhishek are also performed during this time of the year. The fairs held during the event of Durgashtami boost tourism in Guna.

  • 03Jain Temple

    Jain Temple

    This temple is another famous attraction of Guna. The original name of this Jain temple is Sri Shantinath Digambar Jain Atishaya Kshetra. It was built in the year 1236, by the Jain saint Shri Pada Shah. The shrine possesses a number of idols of the Jain Tirthankaras, which are made of red stone. Moreover, the Jain temple has intricate statues and stone carvings on the inner and outer walls of the temple.

    It is also believed by the residents that Shri Pada Shah found a touch stone in the vicinity of this place and hence, he was able to build and finish the whole temple in a short duration. The main deity of this Jain temple is Lord Shantinath who is in a standing position and is facing the sky. The idol of Lord Shantinath is red in colour and is 18 feet high.

    The other deities of this temple are Lord Arahnath and Kunthunath who are positioned on both sides of Lord Shantinath. The idol of Lord Arahnath is 9 feet in height; whereas, Lord Kunthunath is 10 feet tall. Statues of the other lords are also reserved in this place that enhance the magnificence of the temple.
