Magam, Gulmarg

Magam, situated at a distance of 18 km from Gulmarg in the Budgam District, can be reached via Srinagar Gulmarg road. At an elevation of approximately 1569 m, Magam is considered to be the most visited market place of the region. This town has a high Shia Muslim population of over 60%. The Idara Abul Fazal Abbas Islamic Library of Magam, established in the year 1985, is renowned for its huge collection of Islamic books, CD, audio cassettes, and literature. The library, considered to be the largest Islamic private library of Jammu & Kashmir, organises numerous sacrosanct Islamic events. It is also engaged in raising funds for orphan and poor people by donations.The Mazhom Railway Station is located at a short distance of 3 km from Magam and is connected by a four lane road from Srinagar to Gulmarg.
