Chandika Mandir, Guhagar

The Chandika Mandir is an underground temple that is based 15–20 ft deep in the earth, set up in a cave. It is situated at a distance of about 15 km to the north of the town of Guhagar. The temple was discovered about three centuries back, and its origination dates back further in history.

The main deity of the temple is believed to have appeared on her own – that is, the idol isn’t manmade. There also exists a tomb right outside this underground cave temple and is supposed to be dedicated to the person who found the temple.
