Gita Press is a famous press devoted solely to the publication of old Hindu texts and teachings from the Gita. It was established in the 1920s to promote the holy teachings of the Gita. Initially it was housed in a small rented room in Gorakhpur from where three machines and a handful of dedicated devotees regularly published the teachings from the book.
The present form of the press was inaugurated by the first president of India in 1955. Positioned at a distance of 4 kms from the main railway station, the Gita Press is easily accessible and is even today considered the best source of original texts and material pertaining to the Gita and Hindu holy books.
