Maa Tara Tarini Hill Shrine, Gopalpur

Maa Tara Tarini Hill Shrine is considered as one of the oldest shrines of Maa Tara in the entire country. It is situated on the Kumari Hills on the banks of the River Rushikulya, just a few kilometres away from the coastal town of Gopalpur. It is about 13 km away from Berhampur, the nearest railway station.

Thousands of devotees visit the place on a regular basis in order to get the auspicious blessings of the Mother Goddesses. There are two Goddesses in the temple, Maa Tara and Maa Tarini. They are believed by the locals to be the manifestations of Adi Shakti.

The temple is also considered as one of the ancient Shakti Peethas of India. The temple is located at a distance of 174 km from Bhubaneswar, the capital of Orissa. Taxi service is also available from the nearby cities. The Goddesses are decorated with gold and silver ornaments.
