Guptar Ghat, Faizabad

Guptar Ghat consists of long, stone steps that lead to the waters of river Saryu. The ghat is highly revered by the Hindus because legend has it that it was here at these ghats that Lord Rama took ‘jal samadhi’, thereby leaving the earth for ‘baikuntha’ or the divine abode of Lord Vishnu. Its mythological significance apart, the picturesque view of river Saryu dotted with several ancient temples is simply breath taking.
