The summer months in almost all parts of the East Khasi Hills district are very pleasant. It is temperate and cool during the summers. Due to the south-west monsoon, all parts of the East Khasi Hills district receive heavy rainfall in between the months of May-September. In fact, Cherrapunjee, once considered as the wettest land on Earth, is situated within this district. Winters are pleasant yet cold in the East Khasi Hills district. Temperatures drop down to about 1 degree Celsius during the month of January.
