Baneshwar Temple, Dungarpur

Baneshwar Temple is located on a river delta which is formed at the convergence of the rivers, Som and Mahi. This temple is dedicated to the Hindu deity Shiva and He is worshipped in the form of a Shivling here.

Every year, a tribal festival is held in this temple, from Magh Shukla Ekadasi to Magh Shukla Purnima (February) of the Indian calendar. This festival is popularly known as Baneshwar Fair and has immense importance amongst the Bhil community. Tourists can enjoy glimpses into the local tribal culture during this fair.

A large number of devotees visit the Baneshwar Temple on this occasion to offer their prayers to the deity. Tourists can also see a Vishnu Temple which is located nearby and is believed to have been built in the year Samwat 1850.
