Kailash Yatra, Doda

Kailash Yatra is one of the most important pilgrimages for the Hindus. The ‘yatra’ or the travel is organised annually in the month of August from Gatha, earlier known as Ghoshta to Kailash Kund.

The pilgrims believe that the water of the Kailash Kud is as holy as that of the Mansarover Lake in China, believed to be holy to the Hindus as well as the Buddhists. They take a dip in the ice-cold waters of the lake believing that all their sins will be washed away and that their wishes will come true.
