Bhavani Shankar Temple is a popular pilgrimage site in Dharwad dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Built in the Chalukyan style of architecture, Bhavani Shankar Temple is believed to be built during the period of 1068-1076 A.D. by the Chalukyan king Someshwara 11.
One of the chief attractions of the temple is its inner sanctum featuring a portrait of Narayana. The sanctum is encircled by carvings on all corners that depict Dashavathara (Ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu).
