Raghunath Temple, Devprayag

Raghunath Temple is one of the most popular religious sites located in Devprayag. Dedicated to Hindu Lord Ram, this ancient temple enshrines idols of the Lord Ram along with his wife Sita and brother Laxman. People believe that Raja Jagat Singh of Kullu constructed this temple thousands of years ago.

The construction of the present structure of the temple was started by Maharaja Gulab Singh in 1835, the founder of the kingdom of Jammu and Kashmir. However, the construction was completed in 1860, during the reign of Maharaja Ranbir Singh, who was the son of Maharaja Gulab Singh.

The three sides of the inner walls of the temple are made using gold sheets and are engraved with images depicting the life of the Hindu deities, Ram and Krishna. Telugu speaking priests carry out the religious activities at this shrine.
