Shivganga, Deoghar

Shivganga is a small pond of water and this water of the pool is considered holy. People believe that bathing in this holy water can cure many diseases. Shivganga is situated 200 m away from the Baidyanath temple. Many devotees take a holy dip in the water before visiting the temple.

There is also a small Shiva temple near Shivganga. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Shiva had created this pool of water by striking his fist on the earth, when he was not able to find water to wash his hands after urination. He was on his way to Lanka. He wanted to purify his hands before carrying the lingam in his hands.
