Sots, Corbett National Park

Sots are the seasonal streams that serve as a drinking water source for animals residing in the Corbett National Park. These streams play an important role in the ecology of the park. Besides these seasonal sots, there are some perennial streams as well, namely Paterpani, Laldhang, Kothirao, Jhirna, Dhara, and Garjia.

Most of the streams are surrounded by green shrubs and bamboo forests, where tigers take shelter. During monsoons, the water level of these sots rises due to the rain water, and it washes the forest roads. Therefore, this national park remains closed during the monsoon season.
