Datta Mandir, Chaul

The Datta Mandir is situated in Revdanda. It was built in dedication to Lord Dattatreya and is generally worshipped by the Maharashtrian community.

The temple is believed to have been built in Shivaji Maharaj’s reign for the purpose of keeping an eye on the enemy. The period of Lord Dutta’s birthday is celebrated here with much aplomb over five days. The local students are given an off during this time.

The temple is located at the top of a peak and is reached by climbing around 1500 stairs. From atop, the entire region of Chaul and the accompanying Revdanda is visible.
