Summers, monsoons and winters are the prime seasons, with each having a unique character.

Summer

Commencing in mid March and extending up to mid June, the summer season in Chandigarh is extremely hot with temperatures fluctuating between 35° C and 42° C. However, the maximum temperature can sometimes reach up to 45° C. Typically avoided by tourists due to the extreme heat, these summer days last till the month of May in Chandigarh.

Monsoon

The monsoon season brings a relief from the scorching heat of summers by lowering down the day temperatures. From the end of June to mid September, the city of Chandigarh experiences moderate to heavy rainfall. This humid and sultry season is followed by rather pleasant autumn that lasts from mid September to mid November.

Winter

Winters in Chandigarh commence in mid November and last till mid March. The maximum temperature during this season generally varies from 7°C to 20°C while the minimum touches -2° C to 5° C. Though winters are mildly cold in Chandigarh, the city can get cold at times due to frosts, rainfall or even hailstorms.
