Nandankanan Zoo is a zoo cum botanical garden that is spread across 400 hectares of land. The zoo was opened to the public in the year 1979. It is one of the most frequented tourist spots of Bhubaneswar. If you have children with you, then making a trip to the zoo becomes a must.
Nandankanan enjoys a beautiful location of lying between the green forest of Chandaka-Dampara Wildlife Sanctuary and Kanjia Lake. Nandankanan lives up to its name of a magnificent garden. The zoo features a large variety of wild animals and rare plants and trees.
About 126 species of animals live in Nandankanan. The large number of animals in the zoo is taken care of in a proper manner. Though the zoo witnesses a daily rush of visitors, during weekends and festivals the footfall increases by many folds.
