Basti a town located in the Basti district of Uttar Pradesh has in the ancient period, been ruled by several dynasties, many of whom have left an indelible mark on the cultural fabric of the region. The town of Basti which officially came into existence in 1865 is covered with bamboo forests and mango groves.
