This is a place that houses over a 125 kinds of trees which include mango, casuarina and eucalyptus. This Zoological garden was put together by King Bijoy Chand Mahatab in the late 1800s. The park is a great way to spend an afternoon. It is also a great way to get some work done out in the open with a laptop or just get some light reading done!
Sher Afghan was known for his criticism of the Mughal rule over Bardhaman. In his honour, post the war of 1610 AD he was buried here and the tomb is frequented by people from across the state. The Tomb of Afghan Sher is very close to the city centre.
The Ramana Park is essentially the office of the forest department but also serves as a nature park and reserve that features crocodiles, deer and tigers. A whole lot of birds, migratory and local, can be found at the reserve and it is generally considered a photographer’s dream canvas! Couple a trip to Ramana Park with a visit to the Science Center to make for a perfect educational afternoon.
The Konkaleshwari Kali Temple is a temple dedicated to the Goddess Kali and is more of an ashram than a place of worship. People from across the state come here for worship and to meditate. The building is well maintained and the facilities within the complex are ample. This temple is over 2000 years old and houses a stone idol of Kali.
