The Maha Bodhi Society is a charitable trust which was established in 1956 by Acharya Buddharakkhita. The organisation follows the teachings of the Buddha and indulging in selfless services for the society thereby transforming the lives of humankind irrespective of their race, colour, religion or sex.

Since 1956, the Maha Bodhi Society has been actively getting involved in helping the poor and the needy under the guidance of Acharya Buddharakkhita. The society has set up monasteries for nuns and monks, hospitals, meditation centres, educational institutions and have also published innumerable books that help transforming lives around the world.
The society is located in Gandhinagar in Bangalore, but Buddharakkhita has travelled out of Bangalore to various places in India and abroad to spread the knowledge of Buddha and direct many lives to a spiritual uplift.
