Arossim - A Goan Extravaganza

3

This little beach is located on the Colva stretch, parallel to Colva road in South Goa and is flanked by 5 and 4 star hotel properties. The beach features ample water sport opportunities, training included. One must not really venture too deep into the water here and at the neighbouring beaches due to the lack of lifeguard activity.

It’s a little hard to find a decent shack around Arossim Beach in Goa, although the few that can be found serve decent Goan food. During the season the water at this beach is just right for an afternoon swim, especially when the water sport instructors are around the place.

Getting to Arossim Beach is easy enough; it’s around 22 km from the airport and around 35 km from Panjim. Cabs are readily available, and the beach is served by several neighbouring railway stations. Rickshaws can be hired from the city side, although it’s advisable that one rents a bike and rides down.

How to Reach Arossim

  • By Road
Goa can be accessed from Mumbai via the famous Mumbai Goa highway or National Highway 17 which links Mumbai straight to Goa. Off late though, this route has fallen into disrepute on accord of there just being 2 lanes all along, one up and one down which not only is a little dangerous but also makes for a longer journey. The more convenient route is to head to Pune from Mumbai via the 8 lane expressway and then connect up to the Satara highway right till one gets to Sawantwadi on the far end of Maharashtra. Goa is just another few minutes from there. From Mumbai, Pune and other cities in Maharashtra, numerous bus services are available to Goa and very comfortable ones at that. The recommended kind to take is any service operating a low floor Volvo semi sleeper.
