Diglipur, Andaman and Nicobar

Recommended

Diglipur is a sister town to Port Blair approximately 300 kilometers north of it. It is a city located on the North Anadaman Island and has off late sparked off tourist interest because of its proximity to some great beaches, the Saddle Peak national park and Saddle Peak itself!

Kalpong river, the only river that cuts through the Andamans flows through Diglipur. The place is famous for growing Bananas, Coconuts and Pulses. The beaches of Ram Nagar, Kalipur and Lamiya bay make for awesome daytime visits and one might even want to venture out to exploring the mud volcanoes which are small natural mud elevations close to the coast, a photographers dream canvas! Sea Turtle nesting and breeding happen towards the end of the year at Ram Nagar beach.

Saddle Peak along with its national park also makes for an amazing trekking location. Once at the top, one has the opportunity to view the beauty of the Andamans in a different light, from a bird’s eye perspective.

Getting to Diglipur is easy enough. Frequent bus or cab services are available from Port Blair. One can even opt to head to the place by boat, which is only 180 kilometers, as opposed to the 300 kilometers by road.
