Uma Devi Of Uma Nagri, Anantnag

Uma Devi of Uma Nagri is set amidst Himalayas in Uttersoo of Anantnag area. According to local belief, Hindu Goddess Uma chose this place as her holy abode. Devotees believe that the goddess has been personified in the temple as a river that forms an outline of Omkar (stands for the whole universe) with the assistance of five springs.

Visitors would notice that two of the five springs merge into one which is believed to be the union of Shiva and Parvati. This place has become a popular religious site where devotees come to seek the blessings of the presiding deity. If time permits, tourists are recommended to explore other famous spots, such as Kokernag, Daksum, Verinag and Achabal, that are located in proximity to the Uma Devi.
