Dukh Bhanjani Ber Tree, Amritsar

Dukh Bhanjani Ber Tree stands on the eastern flank of the Amrit Sarovar in the Golden Temple. One of the three sacred jujube trees in the complex, Dukh Bhanjani Ber Tree is associated with the legend that the pond next to it cured Bibi Rajni's leper husband.

Having heard of this miracle, Guru Ram Das Ji transformed the reservoir into a bathing tank and named the tree Dukh Bhanjani Ber, meaning eradicator of suffering. Following the suggestion of his predecessor and father-in-law, Guru Amar Das Ji, he marked the site as the Sikh’s spiritual capital. Had it not been for the unique curing ability of the water around the Dukh Bhanjani Ber Tree, the Amrit Sarovar or the Golden Temple wouldn’t have existed. The strong faith of people in the pond near Dukh Bhanjani Ber Tree makes it a must visit.
