Bathinda Fort, Amritsar

Bathinda Fort is one of the many recommended tourist attractions in Amritsar. Built by the founder of Bathinda town, Bhatti Rao, some 1800 years ago, this schooner-shaped fort was captured by Maharaja Ala Singh of Patiala in 1745 AD. The archives reveal that the 10th Sikh guru, Guru Gobind Singh Ji, visited Bathinda Fort many centuries back. As a tribute to his visit, a gurdwara was established near the fort. Surrounded by layers of sand of the desert region, the magnificent structure of Bathinda Fort gives the impression of a ship.
