Gandhi Sagar Dam

Gandhi Sagar Dam

One of the places to visit in Neemuch is the Gandhi Sagar Dam, which is located in the Mandsaur district. The dam built on the Chambal river had its foundation stone laid by the then Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. It is the second largest reservoir in India and is also home to many migratory birds. Bird watchers come here to see these birds and study their lifestyle. It is also an ideal place to go for a picnic with your family.

A major tourist attraction in Neemuch is the Gandhi Sagar Sanctuary, which is teeming with wildlife and nature. It is a hub for wildlife enthusiasts who come here to see animals like Chinkara, Nilgai, Sambar, leopard, langur, wild dog, peacock, otter, crocodile, etc. The Chambal river flows through this sanctuary, and you can see many animals coming to its banks to quench their thirst.

Nava Toran Temple

Nava Toran Temple

A must visit place in Neemuch is the Nava Toran Temple, which is located in the Khor village. This beautifully carved temple is certainly eye-catching and certainly makes you wonder at the skill of the artisans. Although partially in ruins, this temple still shines as a major tourist attraction. There is a statue of Varaha that stands at the center of this temple and is a major crowd puller here. Tourists come here to explore the temple ruins and also to get themselves photographed against the ancient beauty.

Sukhanandji Ashram

Sukhanandji Ashram

The Sukhanandji Ashram is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and is named after Sukadeva, the son of Veda Vyasa. Devotees come here to pay respects to the lord, and also to view the beautiful carvings and inscriptions that are there on its walls. It is believed that Sukadeva, who was an ardent follower of Lord Shiva, built this temple. Tourist can explore this temple and also enjoy the scenic view it provides of the surroundings.

Shri Kileshwar Mahadev Temple

Shri Kileshwar Mahadev Temple

Another place to visit in Neemuch is the Shri Kileshwar Mahadev Temple, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva. This small temple is visited by devotees who come here to pay their respects to the Lord. The temple has a vast ground where you can go for a picnic with your family also.

How to Reach Neemuch

By Air: The nearest airport to Neemuch is the Udaipur Airport, which is about 110 km away. The airport is well-connected with all the major cities of the country.

By Train: Neemuch has a well-maintained railway station where the frequency of trains is quite good. It is connected well to major cities of the state and other parts of the country by rail.

By Road: All the major cities of the state and neighbouring cities like Udaipur are well-connected to Neemuch by road. Buses are available at all times for passengers travelling from any other part of the state to Neemuch. Taxis are also a convenient choice for road transport in Neemuch.
